Which starts like this:

“Peter can be baby Jesus in the pageant!” Barb bounced excitedly in her armchair. The action made her look more like an eight-year-old than an eighty year old.
I glanced over at Peter O’Drool, her pug, who raised his wheezy face at the mention of his name, then wagged the tip of his curly tail.
“I’m sure baby Jesus drooled and got gassy, but nothing like Pete. And I’m pretty sure that crosses the line into sacrilegious. If I’m going to write a Christmas play, it’s going to be secular.” I shrugged at Peter in his doggy bed. “Sorry.”

The dedication pretty much says it all – and if you fit the book dedication you will definitely enjoy Police Navidad.
This book is dedicated to everyone who likes Christmas, dogs, senior centers, kids, and/or punny book titles.

Police Navidad is a cute, funny, Christmas-themed cozy, and this is the perfect time of year to pick it up. While this is the fourth book in the series, you can just dive right in with this one. It starts with Charlee getting an offer she can’t refuse. Well – she’d like to refuse it. But she can’t say “no” to her elderly upstairs neighbors Barb and Don. They need her to write a Christmas-themed play for a fundraiser that the senior center can perform along with kids from a local elementary school. It turns out, writing the play is just the tip of the iceberg.
Of course there’s drama at the rehearsals, and once the actor playing Santa drops dead on set, and there’s no shortage of suspects for Charlee to investigate.
This is definitely a fun mystery to read for the holidays. Ms. Clark’s writing style is light and easy to read – the pages (and puns) fly by. The characters feel real, and it’s fun investigating whodunit along with Charlee. I especially enjoyed the final production of the play towards the end of the book, told not from the audience perspective but backstage from writer/director Charlee’s. Police Navidad will make you laugh, warm your heart, and get you into the Christmas spirit!
