Last week, my best friend (who I fondly refer to as my person) moved across the Atlantic to another country. My car decided to have engine trouble. Another friend told me she’d be diagnosed with breast cancer.
And this all took place on Tuesday. Last Tuesday was not my favorite. In fact, Tuesday was emotionally exhausting.
Sidenote: My car actually decided to act up while I was en route to pick up my my friend and drive her to the airport. She had to find another ride and we had to say our tearful goodbyes on the phone, and then I high-tailed my car straight to the shop for service. (In retrospect, they must have thought I was *really* emotional about my engine when I dropped it off.)
I’ve been known to say that music soothes my soul. People laugh, but it is so true. These songs were my anthems last week.
3 Things by Jason Mraz
Oh, the second thing I do is I close both of my eyes
And say my thank-yous to each and every moment of my life
I go where I know the love is and let it fill me up inside
Gathering new strength from sorrow
I’m glad to be aliveThings are looking up
I know above the clouds the sun is shining
Things are looking up
Love is still the answer I’m relying on
Three little things
Things are looking up
Library Magic by The Head and the Heart
I’ve shared this one before, but it’s one of my favorites.
But I can see the sunshine’s rays gleaming through the clear water
Telling me you gotta hop in for this chapter’s ride
There will always be better days
There will always be better days
All Will Be Well by Gabe Dixon Band
All will be well
Even after all the promises you’ve broken to yourself
All will be well
You can ask me how but only time will tellYou got to keep it up and don’t give up
And chase your dreams and you will find
All in time
For Good from Wicked (Kristin Chenoweth and Idina Menzel)
You’ll be with me
Like a handprint on my heart.
And now whatever way our stories end
I know you have rewritten mine
By being my friend.Who can say if I’ve been changed for the better
But because I knew you
Because I knew you
I have been changed
For good
Last week, music reminded me that things get better. We got my car back Friday. (It’s mostly fixed.) Thanks to today’s fabulous technology, I spoke to my person this morning. And my other friend has an appointment this week to discuss options and begin her journey to kicking cancer’s butt.
All will be well.
Happy Monday.
Rules from Lauren:
Every Monday share one or two of songs you’ve been enjoying lately. It doesn’t have to be a specific genre, new, or one of your favorites – just something you’d like to share with others. If possible, share a music or lyric video of the song and your thoughts on the song(s), artist(s), and/or music video(s).
If you would like to participate in Music Monday, please join the link up by sharing your post’s url over at this week’s post on Always Me.
Great picks! 🙂
