TTT: Will I EVER Finish These Books? Magic 8-Ball Edition.

Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday (TTT) brought to you by The Broke and the Bookish.

September 5: Ten Books I Struggled to Get Into But Ended Up Loving or Ten Books That Were A Chore To Get Through or Ten Books I’ve Most Recently Put Down (the theme is…books you had a hard time with…tweak it how ever you need)

This week I took a look at my Goodreads “Currently Reading” list. I’ve got 25 books on there. TWENTY FIVE BOOKS. Now I do read multiple books at one time. But 25? Turns out I’m not actually reading ALL of them.

Some I’ve finished but just haven’t reviewed yet. There’s a few I’m actively reading. And then there’s the ones I started but just never finished. They’ve remained on my “Currently Reading” list with the hope that I’ll pick them back up. I picked out ten of these started-but-haven’t-finished, and thought I’d consult with the Magic 8-Ball on their fate.

Magic 8-Ball: Will I EVER Finish These Books I Started?

OK, so I don’t actually have a Magic 8-Ball. But if I did, I’m sure this is how it would respond.

I liked all of these books, but just put them down for one reason or another. Actually, now that I think about it, the Mrs. Kennedy and Me book was due back at the library and I couldn’t renew it. I better check that one out again.

Honestly I’m pretty sure at some point I’ll pick S. back up and start it again. It’s an interesting concept, but I just need the time to devote to this particular book. I’m enjoying The Truth of Right Now, but it’s in an iBook format, and I keep forgetting that I have it. Not a great excuse, but it’s the truth. As for the last one, I loved the “Eat” part of Ms. Gilbert’s book, but she lost me when she left Italy.

I really didn’t like The Red Pyramid and am not likely to pick it back up. I wasn’t really into No One Knows, so I skipped to the ending, and now I’m not really interested in the middle. Netflix’s American version of House of Cards has gotten so good that I’ve lost interest in how the British version ends. These three are probably destined for the DNF category.

What about you? Do you have any books you’ve set down but plan to go back to? Is there one I’ve got here on my list that I need to finish ASAP or forget ASAP? What was your take on the topic this week?

Sound off below, and as always link up to your own TTT if you’ve got one!

    • I’m definitely finishing Career of Evil and The Love that Split the World. Eat, Pray, Love has been on my “currently reading” list for a long enough time that it may end up in the DNF pile too. I think it’s because I know later on she gets divorced from the guy she ends up with in the end. But I enjoyed the Eat chapter. I want to visit Italy. 🙂

  1. Lol! I think my Currently Reading shelf is at about 25. A lot are review books I skimmed through the last half but want to go back and read more slowly since i’m off the clock with them but quite a few are books I’m just not sure about. I really enjoyed the one JT Ellison book I read but there hasn’t been much pulling me to go back and read more from her. Not sure why that is.

    • I’m glad it’s not just me with a big Currently Reading shelf. 🙂 Maybe I should try another JT Ellison. Although it may just be I’m getting over saturated by that type of suspense/thriller novel. I have been on a kick and read so many lately!

  2. I like how you did this one, too funny! I’m not sure I’d like the Riordan book either, if I try him I’d probably stick to the greek myth ones. And S I forgot about I guess- I remember thinking at the time that it was a neat concept, but I never did get to it.

    • Thanks! I wasn’t sure how to tackle this one, and then the Magic 8-Ball came to my rescue. 🙂 I really enjoy Riordan’s greek/roman myth stories, so that may be why I was stuck on Red Pyramid. S. is such a cool concept. I just need to find a chunk of time for it…
