Missing Pieces
By Heather Gudenkauf
Rating: 3.5/5 Stairs
Missing Pieces was a random library find for me. It sounded a bit like The Husband’s Secret, and so I picked it up. Definitely in the psychological thriller genre which is very popular now thanks to not only author Liane Moriarty, but also books like Gone Girl and The Girl on the Train. I personally love to read these novels that take you on quite a thrill ride.
Missing Pieces has it’s pluses and minuses. In the minus category, I found it hard to believe that Sarah could have been married to her husband (and interacted with his family) for twenty years, and yet be so in the dark about his family’s past. On the plus side, Ms. Gudenkauf did a great job creating an atmosphere of suspense and leading the reader through the novel’s twists and turns.
I wondered up until the end who the true murderer of Jack’s mother was, and the story delivered a satisfying ending.
