If you saw Monday’s pick-me-up, you know Christmas music is taking over this feature for the month of December. And I’ll be doing it twice a week. Because I love a great Christmas tune to start the day.
Today is a British Invasion with my favorite band, The Beatles!
When I started to write this post, I was sure The Beatles had not recorded any Christmas tunes. Because I don’t have any in my Beatles collection. Boy, was I wrong. So, so wrong. I haven’t listened to this whole video yet, but here’s 45 minutes of Beatles Christmas greetings and singing for the fans.
Now back to my original post idea, which was – Most of the Fab Four did produce a Christmas song during their solo career. Shall we?
John Lennon.
I start with John, not because he’s my favorite Beatle (that’s George!), but because I think this is my favorite of these solo holiday offerings. Beautiful song, beautiful message.
Happy Xmas (War is Over) (1971)
Paul McCartney.
Paul sings a fun, catchy tune for us, because we’re simply having a wonderful Christmas time.
Wonderful Christmas Time (1979)
Ringo Starr.
I have to say, Ringo is my least favorite of the solo Beatles. Don’t get me wrong, The Beatles wouldn’t be the same without him and I adore Ringo as their drummer.
Christmas Time (Is Here Again) (1999)
George Harrison
George is the only Beatle who I do not believe recorded any kind of Christmas song. If I’m wrong, please correct me in the comments.
George is my favorite Beatle, especially when it comes to his solo career, so I couldn’t leave him out. My plan was to leave you with My Sweet Lord, which seemed fitting in a Christmas post. However, I stumbled upon a Happy New Year’s song, so I’ll put that in here instead. It’s a fun looking video.
