November 3, 2020 / beckmank / Leave a comment

4.5/5 Stairs. Set in a small town just outside of Denver, Colorado, Puzzling Ink is a fun, easy cozy mystery to read.

Music Monday. The Lumineers Edition.

September 9, 2019September 8, 2019 / beckmank / 3 Comments

This week I share four fabulous songs from The Lumineers where each song title is a woman's name. And I sneak my favorite song in as a bonus.

The Art of Vanishing

3/5 Stairs.

The characters and setting were excellent, but for me the mystery on this second outing fell flat.

5/5 Stairs to Greenlights by Matthew McConaughey. If you can, listen to the audio book. Narrated by Matthew McConaughey, it adds so much to the book to hear his cadence of his poems and musings, and his laughter as he recalls his stories and anecdotes. This book is more than a memoir, it is full of lessons, philosophies, prescriptions for living, and even bumperstickers. It’s a guide to catching more greenlights as you travel through life. I loved this book, and I know I’ll be referencing it for years to come. Alright, alright, alright.
2.5/5 stairs to Parker Pyne Investigates by Agatha Christie. This is a collection of short stories that were hit or miss for me. I feel bad that I didn’t enjoy it more, I mean it’s Agatha Christie. But the majority just didn’t work for me. Not my cuppa. I read this at bedtime and it honestly took all month to get through. I would pick up a Hercule Poirot or Miss Marple instead.
