TTT: Move Over Books, It’s Time for Fall TV

Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday (TTT) brought to you by The Broke and the Bookish.

In honor of Fall TV, do a TV-Themed Topic! Top ten favorite tv shows of all time, ten new shows coming out this Fall that are on my radar, tv shows I wish never got cancelled, tv shows I would recommend to book characters, books I wish would be tv shows, ten favorite shows from the late 90’s or early 2000’s, ten tv shows for every fantasy lover, etc.

That is a lot of suggestions for this week’s topic. I do love TV shows and could actually spend weeks covering these individual topic ideas. But I’m going to keep it simple this week.

Fall TV 2016

What will I be watching, and which shows do I wish were still around to enjoy? Let’s find out…

Ready for More

Looking forward to these shows returning.

Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life – Four new episodes coming with more Lorelei and Rory goodness. And finally, those four words to end the show. Sniff.

Sherlock – Series 4 airs in January 2017. Finally. Ready for three new adventures.

Once Upon a Time – This is a fun show that my boys and I watch together. I love all the fairy tale mashups and backstories.

Big Bang Theory – I know I can count on Sheldon, Leonard, and company to provide me with a weekly laugh. This scene makes me laugh every time I see it.

Let’s Give it a Try

New shows coming this fall.

The Good Place – A comedy starring Kristen Bell? I’m in.

Designated Survivor – Keifer Sutherland stars as a low-ranking Cabinet member who becomes the President of the United States after an attack on Washington.

Timeless – I’m on the fence on this one. Not sure it will become “must see” for me, but it does have a time travel aspect, which you know I love…

We hardly knew you.

Cancelled too soon.

Veronica Mars – Three seasons and one film later, the world could still use more Veronica Mars. She’s a marshmallow.

Pushing Daisies – We were only treated to two seasons of this beautiful, quirky show about a pie maker (Lee Pace!) who could bring the dead back to life with the touch of his hand. But a second touch kills them forever. The colors were brilliant and the cast perfect, even down to the narrator, Jim Dale.

Freaks and Geeks – We only got to spend part of the 1980 – 1981 school year with Lindsay Weir and company. This show was cancelled after only 12 of the 18 filmed episodes aired. But what a ride. And how do you beat this cast? Linda Cardellini, James Franco, Seth Rogan, Jason Segel, and Busy Phillipps.

    • I know, I cannot believe the star power of F&G. Take your time, it’s such a great show! And GG is forcing me to get Netflix. We’ve talked about getting it for years and now I’m really going to do it! 😉

    • I’ve got to be honest – about a month after the new Sherlock season airs, I’ll be impatient for it to come back on. 😉 OUaT is great – the first season is my favorite. Such a fun show!

  1. Looks like we have similar TV tastes! I’m so excited for the return of “Gilmore Girls” and “Sherlock,” and the only new shows I’m planning to try are “Designated Survivor” and “Timeless.” I have a terrible habit of choosing the worst new shows — they’re either awful or quick to be canceled — so I hope for both our sakes that these are good ones! (I watched the preview for “Timeless,” and honestly it looked pretty bad… but I can’t resist the time travel element! I’ll at least give it a try.)

  2. What a fantastic list! I love Gilmore Girls and The Big Bang Theory so much, that scene you featured makes me laugh so hard, all the time 🙂 I loved Veronica Mars and I agree that the world needs more of her. And Pushing Daisies! What an incredible, original, kind of fairytale-like show. I love it way too much, I’m still sad it got cancelled 😦
