Double Knot (A Davis Way Crime Caper)
By Gretchen Archer
Rating: 5/5 Stairs
Double Knot just came out last week and you don’t want to miss it. What a fun read! This is the second Davis Way Crime Caper that I’ve read, but the fifth in the series. It was so much fun to be back with Davis and company.
In this outing, a pregnant Davis finds herself aboard a luxury boat (ship! it’s a ship!) to spend a week with fifty billionaire gamblers while posing as her (pregnant) boss, Bianca Sanders. Davis has invited her mother along for the week, as her father insists it’s just what her mother needs. Things are looking good until the ship is about to set sail and they get locked into their (gigantic) suite. Turns out there’s a lot more than meets the eye on this cruise. (Like where does Anderson Cooper keep sneaking off to?)
I don’t want to say too much and spoil the fun of this book. I really love Gretchen Archer’s writing style, the humor seems to come effortlessly. With Davis narrating, her sarcasm shines through, and the banter Davis has with other characters is perfect. Bringing Davis’ mother into the story was wonderful, adding a whole new dynamic to the crew. There are laugh-out-loud moments, but there were also a few mother-daughter bits that brought a tear to my eye.
Double Knot is the perfect spring (or summer!) cozy mystery/crime caper.
Many thanks to Henery Press and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I have book one of this series and keep meaning to read it. This sounds great – I just wrote today’s top ten humorous books list and hadn’t read anything recently that would fit. I’ll have to give this series a try!
