TTT: Wishes for the Book Genie

Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday (TTT) brought to you by The Broke and the Bookish.

What is this week’s topic you ask?

10 Wishes I’d Ask The Book Genie To Grant Me

a new book from a certain author,  a reading superpower, a library that is your absolutely #librarygoals, a character to come to life, to met a certain author etc. etc. YOU DREAM IT AND THE BOOKISH GENIE CAN DO IT.

OK so at first I wasn’t too excited about this topic. Truly, I really don’t have many bookish wishes. We have a small library near my house (and they are in the process of building a new, bigger, better space!). I have a comfy chair that I like to read in. My faithful old cocker spaniel snuggles up with me while I read. Life is pretty good.

But then I started to think about it. Yeah, I guess there are a couple of things I could use…Genie?

My first wish

Wish #1 – For JK Rowling to write more Harry Potter. Could be about Harry and his adult life, or his kids – the next generation at Hogwarts. I’m not picky. The world just needs more magic.

Bookish Adventures

Wish #2 – First stop? The lost Library of Alexandria. Of course, with this wish comes the ability to read any book in the library, whatever the language.

Wish #3 – Next up? Let’s hit each of the world’s coolest bookstores.

Wish #4 – All that travel has made me hungry. For my fourth wish, I’ll visit The Burrow and have dinner with the Weasley’s. (Including Fred!)

Bookish Superpowers

Wish #5 – I think of a book, snap my fingers, and there it is. Goodbye, library waitlist.

Wish #6 – I place my hand on the cover of the book and automatically know if it’s one I’ll love or one I wish I hadn’t started in the first place.

Bookish Stuff

Wish #7 – A self cleaning house. What does this have to do with books, you might ask? Instead of spending time cleaning the bathrooms, floors, dusting, vacuuming, etc, a self cleaning house frees up my time for more reading. Perfect.

Wish #8 – A magic mug of hot chocolate. Always the perfect temperature, and it never runs out. So nice when cuddled up in a blanket for a winter’s day of reading. It would be a bonus if the genie could make it so I would have the option of hot chocolate OR herbal tea, but just hot cocoa is fine if he can’t swing it.

Wish #9 – It would be awesome to have a complete set of first edition Nancy Drew mysteries. To sit along side the books my grandmother passed down to me, of course.

My last wish

Wish #10 – To read Harry Potter again for the first time.

  1. I’m loving all of the Harry Potter love in this post. There are so many other stories that J.K. Rowling could dive into and write about with the world she created. I really wish she would too. I would also love that self-cleaning house and that magic cup of hot chocolate.

  2. I’m not sure about more Harry Potter books, although I would love to read them for the first time again. Not sure I’d want anything beyond what we have. How about wishing for a new series to start up that is all new but just as meaningful and beautiful at the same time? A really loooong series, without tons of gross stuff and confusingly intertwined plots, ahem Song of Ice and Fire I’m looking at you.

  3. Oh my gosh, your whole list! I knew we were off to a good start when our #1 wish was the same! 😉 I’m with you on everything, but I especially like the never-ending perfect cup of cocoa, dinner at the Burrow, and the ability to know before reading if a book is for me or not!

Sit down and share a cuppa with me. Let's discuss.
