I peered through the glass and spotted him lying on the floor, stretched out on his back. I could see shorts, long bare feet, and a portion of his sweatshirt, while his head and shoulders were positioned halfway into the cabinet under the kitchen sink.

1989. Santa Teresa, California. Sounds pretty great to me.

I stopped reading this series awhile ago but I’ve been wanting to pick it back up. But it’s been so long since I read it I feel like I should do a reread of the whole series. Bookish problems! I’m not sure I could handle all the time needed for 1989 hair!

Kinsey seems to be practical, she doesn’t worry about her hair. I’d go that route. 😉
I don’t think you need to re read. Sue Grafton does a great job giving basic facts out when needed.
