Hello to my fellow bookworms!
Last night I got back from a busy week in our nation’s beautiful capitol, Washington, D.C. One of my favorite cities in the US. So much to see. We walked, and walked, and walked, and walked. My boys were great sports (for the most part). We saw many monuments, the Capitol, the National Archives (Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights), museums, pandas, and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington to name a few. So many wonderful places to visit.
All that is to say – I am behind! 🙂 Summer is here, and my schedule is sporadic. I am hoping to get this week’s Top Ten Tuesday post out this evening. I am also waaaay behind on book reviews. I may try to bust out a few quickies from recent audio books this week.
I am going to do my best to stay on schedule with posts, but we’ve got a lot going on this summer. A few more holidays (sounds so much better than vacation!), summer sports, time with my boys, and I have to fit work in there too.
In addition, my husband has written his first draft of a book chronicling his experience racing the Tour Divide two summers ago, and guess who his editor is? That’s right, this girl. (I work for free, so he’s pretty happy about that. 😉 ) So the next few weeks most of my time that I normally allocate to spend on Hidden Staircase and/or reading ARCs (or any book, really) will be spent helping him edit this labor of love. (The Tour Divide is an unsupported, “underground” mountain bike race that follows the Continental Divide from Bannf, Canada to the Mexico border, approximately 2700 miles. The 2016 Tour Divide race began last week.)
Happy summer!
You can feel it in your heart
You can see it in the ground
You can see it in the trees
You can smell it in the breeze
Look around! Look around! Look around!
June is bustin’ out all over!
Well, you’ll be busy, but sounds like you have a great summer ahead of you. Enjoy!

Thank you! I always look forward to summer because I think I am going to relax, but that never seems to happen. 🙂

Looks like you had a great trip and (hopefully) decent weather! DC is full of great stuff to see, but it can also be exhausting. You covered a lot of ground! Congrats to your husband on writing his book.

Thank you! We were so busy, yet we only saw a fraction of what is there. Darn, we’ll just have to go again. 😉

Happy summer! Looks like an awesome trip to Washington, D.C.! I went when I was a little kid, but it’s on my must-do list as an adult! I would love to visit the Smithsonian (and the pandas, obviously). 😉
