Ripe for Vengeance
(A Greenhouse Mystery)

By Wendy Tyson

Rating: 5/5 Stairs

221E401E-F834-42D5-8DC4-664643657E9AI’ve got a few series where I eagerly anticipate the next installment every year, and Wendy Tyson’s Greenhouse mysteries are on that list. I love every visit with the town of Winsome and it’s inhabitants. If I could actually visit Winsome in real life, I would in a heartbeat.

Each mystery in the series allows readers to spend time getting to know organic farmer Megan and those close to her. This latest installment focuses on Megan and her boyfriend Denver. Megan’s amateur sleuthing skills are really put to the test when one of Denver’s friends is killed, and becomes even more personal when someone important to Denver’s aunt is accused of murder.

Besides the mystery of whodunit, Megan has her hands full. Washington Acres is doing great (as is both the café and the pizzeria), so she’s set her sights on developing the property next door. While Megan has grand plans, the restoration of the old farm might take longer than she had hoped. This is the part I love most about this series – the continued development of the characters and the town while the mystery is being solved.

My one complaint? (Not really.) I always end up hungry reading these books. Between Chef Alvaro’s daily specials at the cafe and Bibi’s baking, I’m dying for a hot home-cooked meal. And dessert. Seriously, all the food descriptions are fantastic.

An intriguing mystery set in a small town with complex characters who make delicious food. What’s not to love?

Many thanks to Henery Press for providing me with a copy of this book. All opinions in this review are my own.
