Top Ten Tuesday (TTT) brought to you by The Broke and the Bookish.
Top Ten 2015 Releases [Books] I Meant to Get to [in 2015] But Didn’t
Nobody’s perfect. We all have things we want to get done, and for one reason or another it just doesn’t happen. Reading books is no exception.
I’m going to do a slight twist on this topic, and just make it top ten books I wanted to get to in 2015 but I didn’t, and not limit it by the release year. I had these identified for the 2015 Reading Challenge, and I never made it. Hopefully I can read some of these in 2016.
Shall we?
- Believing the Lie by Elizabeth George
- Killing Patton by Bill O’Reilly
- Attachments by Rainbow Rowell
- Good Neighbors by Ryan David Jahn
- A Study in Scarlet by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
- Furiously Happy by Jenny Lawson
- A Family Affair by Rex Stout
- Case Histories by Kate Atkinson
- A God in Ruins by Kate Atkinson
- The Thousand Dollar Tan Line by Rob Thomas
What about you? What book did you want to read last year and didn’t make it? (I’m always looking for new recommendations! That’s why I didn’t finish these last year. 😉 ) Comment below, and link up to your own TTT if you’ve got one!
I adore the Bloggess! I’ve been to signings for both her books, and she is so strange and funny. Her book has the sort of chapters that are good pausing points, if it helps!

I love her too! I actually started the book, I’m about 1/4 through it. I started it in December, when my only time to read was right before bed. I had to quit reading it because I kept laughing and waking my husband up. 🙂 I will pick it up again soon. Her first book was fantastic.

Attachments, A Study in Scarlet, and The Thousand Dollar Tan Line are all great! I listened to an audio of The Thousand Dollar Tan Line narrated by Kristen Bell. She did a good job – obviously her Veronica was perfect, but she did a fantastic Mac as well, and even her male voices were decent. 🙂

I am going to look into getting the audio book. How do you pass up Veronica Mars narrated by the fabulous KB?! You don’t. Thanks so much for letting me know!!

I just read “Furiously Happy” and I can attest that it’s one you don’t want to miss. Have you read Jenny Lawson’s other book, “Let’s Pretend This Never Happened”? If not, you’ll want to read that too!
Sherlock Holmes is ALWAYS on my to-read list. I love all things Sherlock-related, but the only actual Arthur Conan Doyle book I’ve read was “The Hound of the Baskervilles” way back in high school and I barely remember it. All the Bill O’Reilly “Killing —” are on my to-read list. Even my grandma has read “Killing Patton.” I need to get on the ball!

I LOVED “Let’s Pretend this Never Happened”! Jenny Lawson is so fabulous. I’m in the middle of “Furiously Happy” right now.
I’m the same with Sherlock – love everything Sherlock but I’ve only read “Baskervilles.” I started “A Study in Scarlet” so hopefully will remedy that soon. 🙂
I’ve read “Killing Lincoln” and “Killing Kennedy.” Lincoln was great – it was like you were reading a thriller, except you knew what was going to happen. Kennedy I liked but not as much, as O’Reilly completely embraces the Lone Gunman theory and discounts any conspiracy. My mom thinks “Patton” is the best, I’ll have to get back to you when I get around to it. 😉

Great List!
I LOVE Veronica Mars, and I’ve read The Thousand Dollar Tan Line, the writing style was a bit annoying for me, but in the end it was still great! I hope you love it too!
My TTT! 😀

I kept my TTT to 2015 releases, or it would have been soooo long! One book I really wanted to get to last year that wasn’t a new release was was To Kill a Mockingbird. I’m hoping to get to it this year…

I remember reading Mockingbird in school and I liked it. I didn’t have a desire to read her new book though. I felt good about leaving Mockingbird alone. 🙂

Even though I want to read mockingbird…I have no real interest in the new book!

I like your spin on the topic! There are definitely a ton of books I really wanted to read in 2015 but for whatever reason didn’t manage it. Of yours the only one I did read this past year was Furiously Happy which I really enjoyed. I read Attachments a while ago and really liked it. I kept meaning to read more Rowell in 2015 but it didn’t happen!

I’m about a quarter through Furiously Happy. I just love Jenny Lawson. I’ve only read one Rainbow Rowell (Landline) and I am definitely looking forward to reading more!

I’m on the fence on A God in Ruins…I loved Life After Life. I’m worried I won’t enjoy A God in Ruins (and Teddy) as much. Hoping that’s not the case!

Thanks! I am looking forward to reading all of them. Too many books, too little time. 😉 Plus I just keep adding more to my list every week when I see other people’s TTT lists. Ha!

I’m had a copy of Case HIstories on my shelf for YEARS now. Maybe someday? Although the longer it sit there, the less likely it seems to be that I’ll actually read it. I’m a Veronica Mars fan, but never thought about reading the books. I’ll be interested to hear what you think! Looks like a great list. Good luck catching up in 2016!

Thanks! Someone else posted that Kristen Bell narrates the VM books, I think I need to look into the audio version! I read Kate Atkinson’s “Started Early, Took My Dog” a few years ago and really liked Detective Brodie. I want to go back to the beginning.
