TTT: 2015 New (to me) Authors

Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday (TTT) brought to you by The Broke and the Bookish.

I’ve said before that I’m not a quitter. This includes authors. When I find an author I like, I stick with them. This year I’ve continued to enjoy new outings with my favorite characters from authors such as M.C. Beaton, Lee Child, Steve Berry, Jacqueline Winspear, and Robert Galbraith (just to name a few).

But I also do venture out to explore new authors as well, to add to my author portfolio. This year was no exception, and I found some good ones. Some that were new, and others who have been around a while, but just new to me.

Top Ten New-To-Me Favorite Authors I Read For The First Time In 2015

My list is in alphabetical order, and these are all excellent books, for different reasons. I will say my absolute favorite was probably Landline. I loved that book – the characters, the setting, the situation, the time travel. It was fantastic.

What about you? What author did you discover this year that was absolutely fabulous? Comment below and link up to your own TTT if you’ve got one!

  1. With the exception of Where’d You Go Bernadette (which I read and loved) I want to copy this list whole onto my TBR. These are all books I really want to read. I’ve read other books by Rainbow Rowell and Cathy Ace and really enjoyed them. The Girl in the Train sounds really good as does The Book of Speculation. Great list!

  2. Erika Swyler and Paula Hawkins were both on the list I made last week of my favorite 2015 debuts! I also enjoyed “Landline” and “The Husband’s Secret,” and “Where’d You Go, Bernadette” is a book I’m always recommending! So quirky and fun! I STILL did not get to “All the Light You Cannot See” but I will absolutely, positively read it in 2016! I know I’m going to love it.

  3. I wanted to read Cathy Ace’s book and never did- thanks for reminding me of it! I just love that cover. And Liane Moriarty is on my list too- I discovered her this year and loved the two books of hers I read.

  4. The title and cover for The Case of the Dotty Dowager (as well as your recommendation of course) lead me to think that I will need to introduce myself to Cathy Ace in 2016. Two mystery writers made my list for 2015 – Craig Johnson and Louise Penny – and I think both are now in my top ten mystery writers. Well top 20 at least. Looks like a good reading year!

  5. I loved Where’d You Go Bernadette! And I love Rainbow Rowell although Landline isn’t my favorite (Eleanor & Park, Attachments, then Fangirl). All The Light was good but not up to the hype for me. My list this year included Belinda Bauer, Celeste Ng, and Amy Stewart.

  6. Amazing list! I see a bunch of my favorites here: Rainbow Rowell, All the Light We Cannot See, Where’d You Go Bernadette, Liane Moriarty… and I really want to read The Department of Speculation.
