TTT: Top Ten Books I’ve Read (so far) in 2015

Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday (TTT) brought to you by The Broke and the Bookish.

I can’t believe we are already halfway through 2015! Great time to check in with my favorite books of the year (so far). Good thing this week’s TTT topic is…

Top Ten Books I’ve Read (so far) in 2015

According to Goodreads, I’ve read 47 books so far this year. Nice start! But how to narrow it down to the top ten? That’s not as easy as it sounds…(Don’t even ask me to get these in an order within the top ten! That’s like picking your favorite son. I just can’t do it.) I give the following books…

Clueless_twothumbs

Thrillers

I love a page turning thriller. One that keeps you reading past your bedtime because you just can’t put it down. These three books have really hit the spot.

BlueLabyrinth    The Harvest Man    girltrain

Traditional (Classic) Crime

Terrific examples of traditional crime, these books had twists and great characters.

A Fatal Grace    The Sussex Downs Murder

Veronica_PridePrejudice

Cozy/Fun Mysteries

Sometimes nothing hits the spot like a good cozy. Here are my three favorite fun mysteries that I’ve read so far this year.

ChimneySweepers    The Case of the Dotty Dowager    Double Mint

Non-Mysteries

Yes, I read these too. 😉

Landline    A Master Plan for Rescue

There. My Top Ten. I did it. Just ten books. Top Ten. Ten only.

Oh, who am I kidding?

Scotty_cantdoit

Okay, okay. I can’t keep it to just ten. I tried! Here’s my honorable mentions.

Honorable Mentions

outsmartingcriminals    Swansong     Murder in Court Three     The Bones of You     Capital Crimes: London Mysteries

  1. I’ve only read two of these — “The Girl on the Train” and “Landline.” But the covers of “The Harvest Man” and “A Master Plan for Rescue” have me intrigued! I think it’s funny that you had a hard time narrowing it down to 10. I actually only did 5 and it was easy-peasy! (Although maybe 5 is a little more clear cut, since obviously it’s going to be the cream of the crop, the 5-star reads!)

    • I’ve read the first and then Harvest Man is the fourth. I would read them in order, there were total spoilers on book three. But it was amazing! i loved the first book too. Great characters, great setting.

  2. I loved Sussex Downs and Louise Penny is on my TBR as is of course The Girl on the Train. I actually just listened to the first Flavia de Luce and really liked it and am looking forward to continuing the series. Oh yeah and Landline! I keep picking it up at the library and reading bits but have yet to actually bring it home and read it. I love was I’ve read so far though. Needless to say, great list!

  3. I really liked Landline… and my book group is reading The Girl on the Train this fall! I see a few here that I should probably check out. Glad to see you’ve had a great time reading so far this year!

    • Yeah, I read a lot of mysteries. 😉 and they always end up being my favorite. BUT I love these top ten lists because I find so many great sounding non-mysteries too. Which I will get to, but this year I keep requesting mystery/thriller ARCs which are keeping me busy!

  4. I wasn’t a fan of Dotty Dowager, I found the character of Annie very annoying, to the point where I don’t know if I’ll try another. I have Chimney Sweepers coming up at the library, I’m 6 on the list to get it on my Kindle. You should link your mystery reviews in to the Cloak and Dagger challenge at my blog. We put a new one up each month and it brings a little more traffic. It’s onthe main menu.
